Creating an invoice
Invoices bill a client for work or contracted services. Each gets a number such as INV-00128 and starts in draft status. You need the finance > create permission.
Create manually
- Open Invoices and click New invoice.
- Choose the Company (required) and, optionally, an active contract to associate it with.
- Set the issue date (defaults to today) and due date (defaults to 30 days out), plus a tax rate and notes.
- Add line items — description, quantity and unit price; line totals and the invoice total are calculated for you.
Generate from a contract
From a contract's detail page, Generate invoice creates a draft invoice for the contract's company. It copies the contract's line items and uses the contract's tax rate and payment terms for the due date. SummitPSA always creates this as a draft so you can review it before sending.
Convert from a quote
An accepted quote can be converted into a draft invoice, carrying over its totals and priced line items. See Converting a quote to an invoice or work.
Only draft invoices can be edited. Once an invoice is sent, edit the line items by voiding and reissuing instead.
