Creating a quote

·

Quotes let you price work before committing it. New quotes start as draft and receive a number such as Q-00031. You need the finance > create permission.

Create a quote

  1. Open Quotes and click New quote. Starting from a ticket pre-fills the company and contact.
  2. Enter a Title (required) and link the quote to a company, and optionally a contact, ticket or project.
  3. Set a valid-until date. This defaults from your quote settings (30 days unless changed) and controls automatic expiry.
  4. Add a discount % and tax % if needed; defaults can be configured in quote settings.

Line items

Each line item carries a description, quantity, cost price, unit price, line-level discount and a taxable flag. Two special rows help you structure a quote:

  • Section rows — headers that group items; they carry no price.
  • Optional rows — items the client can choose to include.

Because cost price is captured per line, SummitPSA shows a margin indicator, colour-coded against green and amber thresholds from your settings.

Templates and notes

You can pre-load a saved quote template, and any existing quote can itself be saved as a template for reuse. Add notes and terms; default terms can be set in quote settings.
