Asset details and configuration items

·

Every asset record holds a structured set of configuration details — hardware, networking, purchase, and lifecycle data. This article is a reference to what each section captures and how SummitPSA derives status indicators from it.

Lifecycle status

The status field controls where an asset appears in lists. Available values are active, in_storage, loaned_out, awaiting_repair, and decommissioned. The asset list defaults to showing only active assets.

Managed flag

Marking an asset as managed indicates it falls under an active service agreement. You can filter the asset list to managed assets only, and the count appears in the dashboard statistics.

Derived indicators

SummitPSA computes two read-only indicators from your dates:

  • Warranty statusexpired if past, expiring within 90 days, otherwise ok.
  • End-of-life statuseol if past, approaching within 180 days, otherwise ok.

To decommission an asset, use the Decommission action on its detail page; this sets the status to decommissioned and leaves any linked tickets untouched.
